Charles Lloyd Byers
COLUMBIA — Charles Lloyd Byers of Mexico, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Mexico Missouri Veterans Home. He was 88 years old.
Mr. Byers was born March 10, 1922, in St. Francois County.
He was a World War II veteran. He belonged to the 95th Army Division Association and was a member of the RSVP Volunteers and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He served as a deacon of Parkade Baptist Church in Columbia, and in more recent years, he a member of Southside Baptist Church in Fulton.
Mr. Byers is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gail L. Byers; two sons, Raymond of Columbus, Ohio, and Robert of Ballwin; a brother, Ronald Byers; two stepdaughters, Michele Harms and Maureen Himmelberg; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A son, Charles L. Byers, Jr., and a sister, Pauline Mills, died earlier.
A service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St.
