Robert Linton

Robert Linton, an MU School of Business graduate, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011. He was 66.

Mr. Linton was born April 9, 1944, in Springfield, Ill., to James and Mildred (Warneck) Linton. They moved frequently when he was young but finally settled in St. Louis.

Mr. Linton spent much of his life in Columbia, where he owned and operated Fidelity Financial Services until he retired. His true passion, though, was the outdoors.

"Bob always loved hunting and fishing," Ann Stuart, Mr. Linton's sister, said. "He always had a Labrador retriever in the backyard, ready for hunting season."

Stuart said Mr. Linton's love of hunting developed when visiting their grandfather.

"We used to go visit grandpa Warneck on his farm," she said. "Bob used to go hunting and fishing with his grandpa and dad. He just loved it."

Stuart described Mr. Linton as "wonderful" and "caring."

"I always said that he was a Warneck, and I was a Linton," Stuart said. "He was like my mother's family, very easy going."

Mr. Linton is survived by a son, Matthew Linton, of Kansas City;a daughter, Carrie Linton, of Millersburg; a sister, Ann Stuart, of Festus; and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St.
