George Christopher Bishop
BOONVILLE — George Christopher Bishop of Boonville died unexpectedly at his home Monday, Feb. 21, 2011. He was 50.
He was born Oct. 19, 1960, in Boonville to Marvin R. and Irene Ida (Young) Bishop.
He graduated from Boonville High School.
Mr. Bishop married Kyle “Dobi” Brown on May 29, 2004, in Boonville.
He did not have any children of his own, but he was faithfully committed to raising Dobi’s grandchildren, Cadee and Logan.
Mr. Bishop worked for Nordyne for 32 years in the distribution center. He and his wife owned Main Street Pub in Boonville.
A lifelong member of the Jaycees and the Eagles in Boonville, Mr. Bishop enjoyed hanging out with his friends and was always willing to lend a hand.
Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, Dobi; a stepson, Kenneth Phillips of Boonville; five brothers, Joseph Bishop of Petersburg, John Bishop and Mick Bishop, both of New Franklin, and David Bishop and Nathan Bishop, both of Boonville; three sisters, Mary Heckamn of Tennessee, Diane Simmons of Marceline and Terry Bonicamp of Boonville; five grandchildren, Cody, Cadee, Logan, Dalton and Rayce Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents; a brother, Robert M. Bishop; a sister, Ilene Twitchell; a nephew, Stephen Bishop; and two great-nephews died earlier.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Davis Funeral Chapel, 1397 Ashley Road, in Boonville. Services, conducted by the Rev. Rob Fields, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 1006 Locust St., in Boonville.
