Gertrude Frances McDaniel
MEADVILLE — Gertrude Frances McDaniel of Meadville was full of life. Always with a smile on her face, she would volunteer as a clown to share her laughter with others.
She died Tuesday, March 22, 2011. She was 88.
She was born March 8, 1923, in Boone County.
She married Roy Lee McDaniel and moved to the Kansas City area in 1958.
Mrs. McDaniel raised foster children, impacting their lives tremendously and loving them as her own. Working as a bank teller, she never met a person to whom she couldn't talk. She also enjoyed her work with sales in Tupperware.
Living with her daughter, Sandra Lee Smith, for the last several years, Mrs. McDaniel lived life to the fullest. She loved her family and was known to never miss relatives' birthday, singing to them over the phone.
She was able to rekindle a childhood love in John Knox of Columbia.
Mrs. McDaniel was also a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Lee Smith; a sister, Amy Nichols; two brothers, Gene Morris and Al Morris; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Her husband and two sons, Robert and Roy Dean McDaniel, died earlier.
Mrs. McDaniel's family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.. Services will begin 1 p.m. at the same location, and the burial will follow.
