James Adelbert Buckman
James Adelbert Buckman loved spending time outdoors with his sons. With this passion, he was one of the founding members of the Columbia Sportmen's Club.
Mr. Buckman loved telling stories, and he never tired of entertaining others with his life experiences and journeys.
Mr. Buckman died Monday, April 11, 2011. He was 85.
He was born July 8, 1926 in Shelbina to Otis and Frances Buckman. He married Jeanne (Tipton) Buckman on Feb. 22, 1955.
Mr. Buckman served in World War II.
Mr. Buckman is survived by his wife, Jeanne Buckman; two sons, David Kim Buckman and his wife, Kimberly, of Darby, Mont., and Charles Keith Buckman and his wife, Karen, of Fair Grove; three sisters, Veronica Gander of Shelbina, Jane Hightower of Kingfisher, Okla., and Madge March of Hallsville; and four grandchildren, Gus Buckman of Missoula, Mont., Emma Kate Buckman of Fair Grove, Korrie Buckman of Fair Grove and Kurt Buckman of Fair Grove.
His brothers, Guy and Sam Buckman, and a son, James Buckman, died earlier.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1115 Locust St.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parker Funeral Service, 22 N. Tenth St.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Legion, 520 E. Maple St., Shelbina, MO 63468, or a charity of the donor's choice.
