Sue "Oni" Maxwell Dalton
COLUMBIA — Sue "Oni" Maxwell Dalton died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. She was 95 years old.
She was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Huntsdale to Paul and Bess Calvin Maxwell, but she spent most of her life in Columbia.
In 1942, she married Sam F. Dalton in Columbia. They operated the Dalton Coal and Concrete Company together. Mrs. Dalton was a member of the King's Daughters, a national service-oriented organization. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Boone Hospital Center Auxiliary and the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center.
She moved to Springfield in 2002 and lived at the Cambridge Retirement Apartments.
Mrs. Dalton is survived by her sister Sue Ann Dalton and six grandchildren.
Her husband, Sam Dalton; her stepdaughter, Carolyn Patterson; her brothers, Fred Maxwell, Glen Maxwell and John Maxwell; and her sister, Mary Stotler, died earlier.
A graveside memorial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
