Margaret "Maggie" Frances Jacobs

COLUMBIA — Margaret “Maggie” Frances Jacobs died Wednesday, May 18, 2011. She was 104.

Ms. Jacobs was born Sept. 9, 1906, in Boone County to Robert and Mattie (Blanchard) Cunningham.

At age 5, she traveled to Stockton by covered wagon and later moved to Columbia where she worked at The Candy Factory and Dorn Cloney Laundry.

She married William Jacobs on Sept. 24, 1927. They had two sons, Billy Carl, who died at age 15 in a school bus accident, and Roger, who died in 2006.

Ms. Jacobs was a member of the Midway Locust Grove United Methodist Church, and had been since 1947.

Ms. Jacobs also was a cook and seamstress, and she drove an 18-wheeler with her husband.

Ms. Jacobs is survived by three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, William; two sons; two brothers and two sisters died earlier.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will follow at noon.
