Geraldine Ruth Lange
COLUMBIA — Geraldine Ruth Lange died Thursday, June 2, 2011, at her home in Columbia. She was 79.
She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on March 15, 1932, to Paul Anthony and Ruth Ione (Lee) Ryan.
She married Leo Jerome Lange on June 23, 1955, in Colfax, Iowa.
The couple were members of St. Thomas More Newman Center and Our Lady of Lourdes.
Mrs. Lange was an expert knitter and enjoyed needlepoint, as well. Her Irish heritage was very dear to her. Mrs. Lange was also a pianist and taught lessons at her home for 34 years.
She was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon and the National Guild of Piano Teachers.
Mrs. Lange obtained her bachelor of music education at the University of Colorado, and she had previously attended Drake University for two years.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Lange; her children, Thomas Jerome Lange and his wife, Jill, Jennifer Anne Linn and her husband, Mark, Stephen Joseph Lange and his wife, Teresa, and Sara Elizabeth Deutschmann and her husband, James; her grandchildren, Ann Schreiber and her husband, Sven, Bethany Baar and her husband, Erik, Erin Lange, Andrew Linn, Meaghan Linn, Brian Lange, Ingrid Lange, Joseph Deutschmann and Laura Deutschmann; her great-grandchildren, Clara Baar and Calvin Schreiber; and one brother-in-law, Norman Vandehaar.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home at 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 903 Bernadette Drive.
