Dale Edward Hassler

Dale Edward Hassler died Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Columbia. He was 73.

He was born in Mexico, Mo., on May 10, 1938, to Heubert and Ellen Hassler.

Mr. Hassler graduated from Mexico High School and later married Pamela G. Hassler.

Mr. Hassler served in the U.S. Army for four years and worked for the U.S. Postal Service until the 1970s. He then began working for Dairy Queen and started building and managing restaurants.

From 1986 to the mid 1990s, he owned and operated Mizzou Bar-B-Cue in Columbia.

Mr. Hassler supported his favorite sport, racing, throughout the state of Missouri. He had a passion for racing and was the proud owner of several race cars during the late 1970s and early 1980s. He put on the Missouri Sprint Nationals at the State Fairgrounds half mile track in Sedalia from 1975 to 1979.

Mr. Hassler is survived by three sons, Brooke, Tom and Galen Hassler; and six granddaughters, Allie, Kaitlyn, Pamela, Olivia, Bailey and Dannica.

His parents and his wife, Pamela, died earlier.

A celebration of life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Red Top Christian Church in Hallsville.
