JoAnn Hagans

JoAnn Nichols Hagans of Ashland died on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Bluffs Nursing Home. She was 87.

She was born in Wilton, Mo., on Sept. 24, 1924, to Arthur Payton and Annie Edith Nichols. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1942 and was a member of the Ashland Order of the Eastern Star #309 for 60 years. She was also a member of the New Salem Baptist Church.

She married Raymond Leon Hagans on July 18, 1945, in Boonville. Mr. Hagans died on March 23, 2005.

Mrs. Hagans was a homemaker and a mother to one son and three daughters.

She is survived by her son, Robert Hagans and his wife, Viola, of Ashland; three daughters, Carol Skinner, and her husband, Dennis, Nancy Rupard, and her husband, Mel, all of Ashland, and Gail Reynolds, and her husband, Rex, of Columbia; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, five brothers and two sisters died earlier.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Services will follow at Robinson Funeral Home, 601 N. Henry Clay Blvd. in Ashland, with burial at the New Salem Cemetery.
