Gerald Paul Thompson
Gerald Paul Thompson of Columbia died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011. He was 77.
Mr. Thompson was born April 3, 1934, in Marion, Ind. to Walter H. and Zula M. Collis Thompson.
On Oct. 12, 1959, he married Linda Garrison.
He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict and the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He loved his family and woodworking.
Mr. Thompson is survived by two sons, Jeff Thompson and his wife, Annette R., and Ed Thompson and his wife, April Dodson, both of Columbia; three brothers, Joe Thompson, John Thompson and Steve Thompson; seven grandchildren, April Melvin, Nicole Marlett, Jeffrey Thompson, Jr., Ashley Parshall, Tiffany McAfee, Erin McAfee and Josh Thompson; and five great-grandchildren.
His wife, a son, Charles Edward Thompson, and five brothers died earlier.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, 1610 N. Garth Ave. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.
