Laura Lynn Ahart Eckles of Columbia died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, of breast cancer. She was 49.
She was born Dec. 5, 1962, in Humansville to Lawrence William and Marilyn Burchett Ahart. She grew up in Bolivar and briefly attended Missouri Southern State University before attending cosmetology school in Cape Girardeau.
As a hair stylist at The Look for 18 years, Ms. Eckles became friends with customers. She loved her life and always thought of others first. Even in her last months fighting against cancer, her first words to guests were always, “How are you doing?”
Ms. Eckles is survived by her sons, Kendall Eckles and Thomas Eckles; her mother, Marilyn Ahart, of Bolivar; three sisters, Alecia Latz and her husband, Bill, of Ozark, Carol Covert of Springfield, and Sherryl Chayer and her husband, Glenn, of Springfield; her brother-in-law, Steve Oatman; and six nieces and nephews.
Her father, Lawrence Ahart, and sister Annette Oatman died earlier.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 914 West Blvd. S.
