Walter Lee Maupin
Walter Lee Maupin of Columbia died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, of multiple myeloma. He was 72.
He was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Indianapolis to Walter and Marguerite Tapley Maupin.
Mr. Maupin graduated from Hannibal High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor’s degree in history and economics and a master’s degree in history and economics at MU. He married Martha Hoskins in 1966 in Auxvasse.
Mr. Maupin is survived by his wife, Martha, of Columbia; two sons, John Maupin and his wife, Christie, of Springfield, and Andrew Maupin and his wife, Julie, of Liberty; a sister, Donna Sue McMickle and her husband, John, of Columbia; five grandchildren, Kennedy and Lilley, both of Springfield, and Elizabeth, Jay and Lila, all of Kansas City; and many cousins on both sides of the family.
A sister-in-law died earlier.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will be at 11 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave. in Springfield.
