James "Tim" Williams

BOONVILLE — James "Tim" Williams painted and photographed everything — including himself. A recent project was creating self-portraits.

"He was doing about a self-portrait a day, but he used different color schemes and different media," his wife, Jane Lago, said.

James "Tim" Williams of Boonville died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011. He was 58.

He was born Feb. 26, 1953, in St. Louis to Rolla Francis and Dorothy Jane Cluster Williams.

Mr. Williams received a bachelor of arts degree from MU.

He married Jane Lago in 1990 in Columbia.

He was an artist and poet, and he often posted his artwork on the website Flickr.

Starting in his teenage years, Mr. Williams was a strong believer in Buddhism and had meditation groups in his home. He was creative and generous and had dozens of friends, Lago said.

"He had a knack for meeting people. Everywhere we went he would meet people," Lago said.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Jane Lago; one sister, Donna Floyd of Brandon, Fla.; and one brother, Chuck Williams of Columbia.

His parents, Rolla Francis and Dorothy Jane Cluster Williams, and one brother, Rolla "Bill" Williams Jr., died earlier.

The family will have a private gathering.

Memorial contributions can be made to Boonville Friends of the Library, 618 Main St., Boonville, MO 65233 or One Drop Zendo Association, 6499 Wahl Road, Freeland, WA 98249.
