Martha Jane Decker was reading specialist teacher
COLUMBIA — Martha Jane Livingston Decker of Columbia died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Lenoir Woods Health Center. She was 90.
Mrs. Decker was born on Jan. 31, 1921, in Marion County, Iowa.
She attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, and earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from MU College of Education.
Mrs. Decker had teaching certificates from Iowa and Missouri. She was a reading specialist for Columbia Public Schools. She most recently taught at Grant Elementary before she retired.
Mrs. Decker was a member of Columbia First Presbyterian Church, The Daughters of the American Revolution, the Audubon Society and the International Reading Association.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Decker of Columbia; a grandson, Aidan McNaire of Hawaii; and a nephew in Arizona.
Two sisters and a daughter, Susan Jane Decker, died earlier.
Services were Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church.
