Ernest F. Forbis Sr.
COLUMBIA — Ernest F. Forbis Sr. of Columbia died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007. He was 90.
He was born May 24, 1917, in Columbia to Beacham and May (Hudnell) Forbis.
Mr. Forbis served in the Air Force from 1942 until 1945. He spent 19 months in India and received several citations. He attained the rank of sergeant before being honorably discharged.
Prior to his military service, he was employed at MU.
Mr. Forbis was a retired realtor and a builder.
He married Virginia Richardson on Dec. 16, 1945.
Mr. Forbis was a member of the Columbia Seventh-day Adventist Church since March 1944, where he served as a deacon for 30 years.
Mr. Forbis is survived by his wife; son, Ernest F. Forbis Jr. of Indio, Calif.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; one stepniece, two stepnephews; and one stepbrother.
Two brothers, two half-sisters and one stepsister died earlier.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Services will follow at the funeral home.
