Dorothy Pearl Smith

COLUMBIA — Dorothy Pearl Smith of Ashland died Thursday, April 24, 2008. She was 98.
Mrs. Smith was born March 3, 1910, in Boone County to James and Martha Dozer McCoy. She married Paul Smith on Dec. 21, 1931, in Columbia.
“She really enjoyed quilting and cooking,” her daughter-in-law Donna Smith said, “I would also say, she really enjoyed her family.”
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and is remembered for being a hard worker by her son Ronald Smith.
He also remembers his mother’s sense of humor.
“She was always joking and going on with people,” Ronald Smith said.
Mrs. Smith was also a member of the Nashville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Gilpin of Ashland; two sons, Ronald Smith of Ashland and David Smith of Columbia; daughter, Joyce Persinger of Columbia; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Her husband and two sisters died earlier.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home, 601 N. Henry Clay Blvd., Ashland. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Nashville Baptist Church, 355 W. Nashville Church Road, Ashland. Burial will follow in Nashville Cemetery.
