If history repeats itself, the Missouri swim teams should win this weekend.
The Tigers host Truman State at 5 p.m. today at the University Natatorium. The No. 23 women’s team will then travel to Lawrence, Kan., to face Kansas on Saturday. MU won in both meets last season.
Adriene Davis will see her four years of Missouri soccer eligibility run out this fall, but the senior forward has made sure she will never be forgotten.
Davis set an MU career assist record with 30 on Oct. 19 in her last home game, breaking Nikki Thole’s mark set in 2000. Thole was an All-American selection in 1999.
The race to the NCAA Championships continues for Missouri’s cross country teams.
The postseason begins today for the Tigers, who will race in the Big 12 Conference Championships in Austin, Texas.
When Columbia College’s Jaime Diestelkamp went up for a kill early in the Cougars’ match against William Woods on Thursday night, things didn’t go quite as expected.
As she flew through the air, she misplayed the ball at first, only to recover at the last moment and spike it for a point.
Brenna Schlader grew up playing soccer, softball and basketball. She knew nothing about volleyball, though, until her freshman year at West Junior High.
“My mom was like, ‘Hey, that looks like a fun sport,’” Schlader said. “So I went out for it, and I really liked it. It was kind of different because I had never been in a public school before, so I was like, ‘Whoa, there are tall girls, too.’”
Last season, Lisa Boyd, Shen Danru, Lindsey Hunter and Lindsey Noll played key roles for the Missouri volleyball team as freshmen.
Jessica Vander Kooi and Nicole Wilson fill that role for the Tigers this season.
