Funding from the Wellness Resource Center has allowed the MU Police Department to conduct another saturation patrol, which led to arrests for 28 violations, said Capt. Brian Weimer.
The most recent saturation patrol was conducted Friday night with an emphasis on alcohol violations, Weimer said.
Surprise patrols are made whenever the MU police department has funding or when grants become available.
The Wellness Resource Center provided the MU police with money from a grant it received from the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
For this patrol, MU police worked with the Columbia Police Department and the Division of Liquor Control. In the past, however, police have conducted saturation efforts without help from other departments. Whether they conduct the patrol alone or in collaboration depends on the grant.
The arrests were made throughout the campus area, although the majority of the violations were in the northern part. The patrol began at 10:30 p.m. and lasted until 3:30 a.m.
