11 Tigers earn Big 12 honors:
The Missouri women finished fourth, and the men finished 11th in the Big 12 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Norman, Okla.
Senior Janae Strickland, one of 11 Tigers to earn All-Big 12 honors, broke her school record in the shot put at 55 feet, 61/4 inches. She finished second. Tigers Lindsey Markworth (eighth, shot put), Amanda Bales (fifth, 1,500 and sixth, 5,000), Ashley Patten (third, 800), Jill Petersen (third, 3000 steeplechase), Whittney Stuart (seventh, 400) and Conrad Woolsey (seventh, discus, fourth, shot put) earned All-Big 12 honors.
Missouri sophomore Jessica Stockard won the heptathlon Friday. Her score of 5,378 points, a personal best, placed her sixth on the national performance list.
HICKMAN TRACK:
The Kewpies’ girls’ team finished second with 127 points at the Parkway South Invitational in St. Louis.
HICKMAN AND ROCK BRIDGE SWIMMING:
The Kewpies took fourth with 152 points and the Bruins finished 14th with 10 at the 23-team Springfield Invitational in Springfield on Saturday.
ROCK BRIDGE TENNIS:
The Bruins finished sixth in the two-day Tournament of Champions on Friday and Saturday in St. Louis. Jon-Eric Meyer had the Bruins’ highest singles finish (10th).
MU TENNIS:
The Tigers lost to the Oklahoma Sooners 4-1 in the second round of the Big 12 Conference Championships on Friday in Norman, Okla.
MU VOLLEYBALL:
Junior Sara Parks and sophomores Lindsey Hunter and Lindsey Noll were chosen to play for the USA Select Team in the European Spring Cup May 6-16 in Brno, Czech Republic. The USA team will compete against 15 European national teams.
COLUMBIA COLLEGE SOFTBALL:
The American Midwest Conference Softball Tournament has been moved to Tuesday and Wednesday.
