Another rocky start sank the Mid-Missouri Mavericks again.
The quick hole was too much to overcome, and the Mavs lost 9-2 to the River City Rascals at Taylor Stadium on Saturday in a Frontier League game.
The Mavs fell to 1-7, and the Rascals are 3-3.
The Rascals started quickly, scoring three runs in the first inning and they added five in the second.
The Rascals used four hits and two walks in the second inning to take an 8-0 lead.
During the rally, Josh Ury drove David Nowak and Justin Christian with a single to make it 5-0. Ury also scored in the inning.
Mike Madrid got the Rascals started in the first inning with a two-run home run off Ryan Jakubov.
The Mavs countered with solo home runs from Matt Oaks in the third inning and Blake Blasé in the fourth inning.

John-Paul Glascock relieved Jakubov in the second inning and was effective in shutting down the Rascals.
He struck out three and allowed one hit in holding the Rascals in check.
Jason Elkins relieved Glascock in the eighth and gave up a home run to Zack Riera in the ninth.
Riera drove a pitch over the right-field fence for the final run.
The Rascals defeated the Mavs 12-4 on Friday.

Riera hit a home run for River City. The Rascals piled up 16 hits, and Christian and Chris Klosterman led the way with three hits.
Designated hitter Nick Saunders led the Mavs, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. He hit his second home run of the year in the third inning.
The Mavs committed three errors and issued five walks.
