PrintMissouri's second Nothing But Noodles franchise opens today at the corner of Ninth and Cherry streets, the former location of the Cajun restaurant Glenn's Café.
From its green, noodle-shaped light fixture to its pasta-themed menu, Nothing But Noodles aims to add a new style and flavor to the District's already diverse offering of restaurants.
Franchise partner Tom Pogemiller said the group is pleased with its new location. He said high visibility, nearby parking and proximity to the MU campus were all strong business draws.
"We think the motif and menu are congenial to a college town," Pogemiller said.
The menu samples cross continental tastes. Noodle bowls - the restaurant's main offering - include Santa Fe, pesto, Cajun, Thai and Stroganoff. And an extensive salad menu serves those looking for a pasta-free meal.
Nothing But Noodles bills itself as "fast-casual," which Pogemiller said distinguishes it from Panera Bread and Chipotle Mexican Grill, close competitors both in location and style. Unlike its competitors, the restaurant will sell beer and wine.
"Even though we fit the type, we offer something new, a bit more upscale," Pogemiller said.
Glenn's Café closed in June 2002 after 14 years of operation. The building remained vacant for more than two years.
The first Missouri location for the Arizona-based company opened in St. Peters in January. Two more are planned for Chesterfield and St. Louis.
