PrintA suspected methamphetamine lab was discovered at 12:53 p.m. Saturday at a residence at 10300 Route N in rural Boone County by deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
The residents, Louis Henry, 34, and Octavia Price, 20, were arrested and charged with one count each of manufacturing a controlled substance.
Deputies responded to assist a woman reported to be on a methamphetamine binge.
The deputies knocked on the door and received no answer, Boone County Sheriff’s Department Detective Britt Shea said.
Walking around the house, deputies smelled ether, a component in the production of methamphetamine.
They also saw additional ingredients used in methamphetamine production outside the house, including a 20-gallon barrel of hydrochloric acid, they said.
“Meth labs produce distinct items as trash,” Shea said
“The deputies saw chemical containers, stripped battery casings and other items commonly associated with meth labs.”
Once inside the house, the deputies noticed further evidence of a meth lab, said Shea, and summoned firefighters.
When the Boone County Fire Protection District Hazardous Materials Team arrived, it determined the home contained a dangerous methamphetamine lab.
Deputies applied for and received a search warrant.
Henry and Prince remained in Boone County Jail on Sunday. Henry’s bond was set at $20,500. Prince’s bond was set at $10,500.
Each bond included an additional $500 for failing to appear for outstanding warrants.
