A new endowed chair in MU’s College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources will focus on entrepreneurial leadership in life sciences.

The chair will be held by J. Bruce Bullock, chair of the agricultural economics department and professor of agricultural economics.

Bullock teaches classes about marketing, policy analysis and price discovery and also coordinates the college’s Dickinson Scholars Program.

The Al and Mary Agnes McQuinn chair in entrepreneurial leadership will include courses designed to expose students to the elements of entrepreneurial leadership.

One aspect of the program allows students to visit agri-businesses and marketing firms in the Kansas City area, according to a press release.

Bullock said the course will include some classroom instruction, accompanied by guest lectureships four times a year that will feature successful entrepreneurs and other experts in that field.

He hopes the courses will enhance and sharpen students’ business-planning skills and other skills needed to be successful entrepreneurs.

“I want them to walk out of here with an increased confidence in their ability to be successful entrepreneurs,” Bullock said.
