Jefferson City won the Class 5-District 10 on Friday night, its first title in six years, ending Rock Bridge's dream season by a score of 53-50 at Rock Bridge.

The Bruins (17-8) erased a nine-point deficit in the third quarter and took the lead with three minutes remaining, but missed free throws and costly fouls let Jefferson City tie the game in the final minute.

Rock Bridge turned the ball over with less than 10 seconds remaining, then fouled the Jays' Brianna Culberson with two seconds left. Culberson missed her two free throws to send the game into overtime.

Free throw problems plagued both teams in the extra period, but Brianna made a lay-up and Emily Light drained two free throws to give Jefferson City the lead for good.

Rock Bridge could not make a basket in the final seconds to try to extend the game, and the Bruins left the court in disbelief when the horn sounded.

Claire Schaeperkoetter led Rock Bridge with 18 points, while Culberson had 16 for the Jays.

Jefferson City (18-9) moves on to play Fort Zumwalt South in Washington Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
