The Missouri softball team outlasted Iowa 3-1 in extra innings on Sunday to tie for the best record at the Louisville Red & Black Classic.

Redshirt freshman Micaela Minner hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning, her sixth of the season. The No. 24 Tigers improved to 11-2.

Senior shortstop Heather Kunkel hit a double in the fifth to score freshman Jen Bruck.

MU BASEBALL: The Tigers fell 7-6 to Memphis on Sunday at the Service Academy Spring Classic in Millington, Tenn., after allowing a run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Despite the loss, Missouri won the championship after winning the tiebreakers.

In the top of the ninth, Missouri (6-2) loaded the bases with one out but could not score.

COLUMBIA COLLEGE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Cougars clinched the top seed for the American Midwest Conference Tournament with a 90-71 win at McKendree on Saturday, pushing their win streak to 14.

The Cougars outrebounded McKendree 51-34 and shot 47 percent from the field.

Mindy Mitchem led the Cougars with 26 points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots. Charliss Ridley scored 20.

The Cougars host Harris-Stowe in the AMC quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

MU TRACK & FIELD: The Tiger women’s team won three races and finished sixth with 64 points at the Big 12 Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.

Junior Ashley Patten won the 1,000-meter run and freshman Trisa Nickoley won the 800-meter run. The women’s distance medley team also earned a title.

The men, led by senior Conrad Woolsey’s shot put title, also finished sixth with 66 1/2 points.
