Elson Floyd, UM system president, received unanimous support from the UM Intercampus Faculty Council and the MU Faculty Council last week.

On Feb. 21, the Intercampus Faculty Council — the top governing body of faculty in the UM system — endorsed a resolution that expressed its “unqualified” support for Floyd, according to a release.

“President Floyd is an exceptional leader,” the IFC resolution states. “Among other things, he is creating a system-wide culture of trust and shared governance that encourages administrators, faculty and students collectively to pursue academic and institutional changes.”

On Feb. 24, the MU Faculty Council unanimously approved a similar resolution. Elected faculty from each academic unit make up the faculty council, which is MU’s highest governance for faculty.

“(Floyd) is known as someone who will make a tough decision when necessary,” IFC Chairman Rocco Cottone said in the release. “We take pride in his willingness to listen to our concerns and to consult us with his concerns.”
