Tigers’ woes continue

There was good news and bad news for both Missouri basketball teams Wednesday.

The men and women both dropped games to conference foes. The men lost 67-49 at Iowa State, dropping their record to

14-15 (6-9 Big 12 Conference).

Missouri committed 22 turnovers in the game, which led to 30 Iowa State points. The Tigers shot 39 percent from the field. That included a four-of-22 effort from 3-point range.

Jason Conley had 14 points, 13 rebounds and five assists to lead the Tigers.

Missouri hosts Kansas today at 1 p.m.

Coach Cindy Stein’s Tigers fell 80-53 to No. 17 Kansas State at Mizzou Arena.

The team will take an 11-17 (4-12) record into the Big 12 Tournament. The ninth-seeded Tigers play Kansas at noon Tuesday at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

Missouri led 25-23 at halftime, but Kansas State went on a 29-6 run to begin the second half and put the game out of reach.

Christelle N’Garsanet led the team with 12 points and five rebounds.

The good news for both teams came off the court. Five Tiger basketball players earned all academic All Big 12 honors.

Jimmy McKinney made the first team to represent the men. Women N’Garsanet, Megan Roney and Carlynn Savant were first-teamers for the women. Blair Hardiek made the second team.

Stein has had 29 student-athletes earn academic honors in her seven years at Missouri.
