PrintThe past two weeks have not been good ones for a Pizza Hut in north Columbia.
Police say they think the same person is responsible for four robberies in 11 days at the Pizza Hut at 2000 W. Worley St. The suspect is described as a man in his late 30s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and 170 pounds, with blue or green eyes.
The robberies, the last of which occurred at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, have been committed in a similar fashion, according to police. The man entered the Pizza Hut on Sunday from the east entrance wearing nylon pantyhose over his face and displaying a handgun. He ordered the employees into a walk-in cooler and took an undisclosed amount of money from the registers, police said. No one was hurt.
The man is believed to be responsible for three other robberies at the restaurant, including those on March 16 at 10:20 p.m., March 19 at 10:40 p.m. and March 25 at 9:53 p.m., said Columbia Police Capt. Brad Nelson.
The Pizza Hut is not usually a frequent target of crime, Nelson said.
“It’s very peculiar to us, we’re not sure why he’s returning to the same place,” Nelson said.
The robbery on Sunday was the first committed during daylight hours.
Nelson said people should be vigilant in monitoring who walks into a store.
