her yoga clothing company

Anne Appleby said she thinks fashion has always been in her genes: Her parents met at Macy’s.

Today, the Stephens College alumna has her own company, YogaForce, which sells yoga clothing and gear.

Appleby, whose 1981 degree was in sociology, said she’s never taken a design course. She got interested in designing clothes through yoga. She had noticed there weren’t clothes for the yoga lover; everyone was in sweats.

Appleby visited Stephens this month to serve on a design panel during the school’s Women in Design Week. While she was in Columbia, Appleby showed off her new yoga mat — and a few smooth moves.
