The Hickman baseball team continued its recent dominance with an all-parts sound 10-0 home win against Camdenton on Friday.
The well-rounded Kewpies (6-0) scored five runs in the first inning and coasted their way to yet another abbreviated victory, this one ended after five innings by virtue of the 10-run rule.
"I think it's just experience," coach Dave Wilson said of his team's fast starts.
"We've done a good job of scoring runs early in ballgames and that helps those pitchers out right away. They can go out there and get in a groove."
Senior Zach Heath froze Camdenton (0-4) hitters with his breaking ball and was impressive working with runners on base.
"These guys have pitched in a lot of ballgames, I don't think they get real rattled," Wilson said.
Heath (2-0) allowed five hits in five innings and finished with seven strikeouts.
While each Hickman starter had at least one hit, the Kewpies were led offensively by Andrew Mueller, who scored two runs and hit a two-run home run in the first inning.
Although four of Hickman's games have ended after five innings, Wilson didn't seem concerned about the shortened games having an effect on his ballclub.
"Our biggest thing is we just want to win every inning," he said. "If we can break it up into seven one-inning games, if we can keep winning innings, we feel like we have a good chance to be successful."
