OKLAHOMA CITY — Three home runs couldn’t save the Tigers men’s baseball team Saturday night in its 17-9 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Nebraska advances to the championship game that will be played today at 1 p.m. at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City and broadcast on Fox Sports Network.

The loss followed a 5-4 loss to Nebraska in the early game Saturday and, for Missouri, marked the end of the Big 12 Conference season.

The Tigers will find out Monday if they make the NCAA regionals. The selection show airs at 10:30 a.m. Monday on ESPN.

In the second game, the Tigers were never in it. Nebraska jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning and Missouri never offered a serious threat. At the end of three, Nebraska led 7-2..

Missouri catcher Jacob Priday had two solo home runs in the loss. James Boone also hit a home run for Missouri. Boone had three hits and three runs-batted-in.

Missouri could’ve clinched a berth in today’s finals with a win in either of the two Saturday games.

In the early game, Missouri lost in the bottom of the ninth inning with Nebraska’s Daniel Bruce singled to left field, scoring Bryce Nimmo with the winner.

With runners on first and third, Bruce singled through the left side.

Nebraska will move on to face Baylor today for the Big 12 tournament title.
