The Missouri Department of Economic Development has ap-proved $230,680 in tax credits for Rainbow House, an emergency shelter for abused and neglected children and regional child advo-cacy center.
Organizations apply for the tax credit as part of the Department of Economic Development’s Youth Opportunities Program. Rainbow House is now a beneficiary of the program.
“We’re hoping that the tax credit money will fund donations to help with the crisis care program,” Rainbow House development director Ron Graves said. Last year, the crisis care program helped about 100 children by housing and keeping them out of the state system.
Now, those who donate to Rainbow House between Friday and June 30, 2007, will be able to receive a tax credit worth up to 50 percent of the gift, according to a news release. There is also a 30 percent tax credit available for in-kind contributions.
