Two women and a man were arrested Sunday after a series of armed robberies over the weekend.

The suspects face charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action in at least one of the robberies, though a police report said more charges might be brought pending further investigation into similar incidents.

Michael Dennis, 27, Elizabeth Murphy, 26, and Shirley Wright, age unknown, face first-degree robbery charges in connection with a robbery that took place Friday in Flat Branch Park. Bond for Dennis was set at $100,000. Bond for Murphy and Wright was set at $25,000 each.

Two victims, whose names were not made public, told police they were robbed while walking near the park by a gang of three. The robbers, one of whom was armed with a handgun, stole one of the victims’ wallets and sprayed the other in the face with Mace before running away, the police report said.

In a similar robbery Saturday, one victim told police that three robbers approached as she entered her car. One of the robbers pointed a gun in her face while another stole her purse.

Two other robberies occurred Friday and Sunday. Both police reports said the suspect acted alone and demanded money by threatening with a handgun, although the weapon in Friday’s robbery was reported as a toy gun.
