Missouri erased a double digit deficit in the second half of Friday night’s game in Fayetteville, but Arkansas ultimately held on for a 66-63 victory.

After a back and forth first half, the Razorbacks held a 53-39 advantage with under nine minutes to play. But Missouri went on a 19-4 run capped by a Jason Horton three point shot to take a one point advantage. Horton again nailed a big three pointer minutes later, banking this one in, giving the Tigers a 61-60 lead, but then missed two costly free throw’s in the final minute.

“It was tough,” Horton said. “I mean I’ll probably go to the gym tonight and shoot free throws.”

Horton finished with nine points on three second half three-pointers, while Kevin Young had 13 points and eight rebounds. Thomas Gardner added 11 points, and Ronnie Brewer, preseason SEC player of the year, led Arkansas with 20.

For the game Missouri made 9-18 three pointers, but just 8-17 free throws.

“For us to shoot so poorly from the line,” Horton said, “I think we did a great job. I mean we were still in the game, we still had a shot to tie the game.

“We did a great job clawing and scrapping on the road, I mean we’re not going to play a better team than this this year on the road, so it was a good test for us.”

The loss drops the Tigers to 2-2 for the season, who play their second road game of the year Wednesday at Davidson.
