Jeong Im remembered
Friends, family, Missouri officials, and former colleagues gathered Friday at the Maryland Avenue parking garage to honor the one-year anniversary of Jeong Im’s murder. “At about this time, about a year ago, a tragic thing happened,” Jackie Jones, vice chancellor for administrative services said Friday.

Im’s body was found in the trunk of his burning car in the parking garage. Investigators said the 72-year-old had been stabbed in the chest.
The case has not been solved, but the family still has hope for closure.
“We are here today to reaffirm our commitment to this investigation,” said Jones.
Although members of the Im family did not speak, a close friend and colleague read a statement from them.
“It’s my honor to convey this for Tesuk, Soo and Jean,” said Kim Wise, professor emeritus of molecular microbiology and immunology, “We are hopeful that these efforts will end in a resolution of the case, and along with the MUPD, we ask for the cooperation of the public in providing information to see that justice is served,” said Wise.
Jack Watring, MU police chief, said, “Special thanks to Mrs. Im, Soo and Jean. We realize this has been an extremely difficult time and we thank you for your unbelievable strength, patience and willingness to work with us.”
A second memorial to Im is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at S203 Memorial Union.
