Man, 54, arrested on suspicion of rape

A Columbia man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of raping a 28-year-old woman.

Reginald Cooper, 54, was arrested on suspicion of rape, sodomy, felonious restraint, harassment and two counts of third-degree domestic assault.

The woman called 911 at 7:18 p.m. Sunday to report a man following her in a vehicle, according to Columbia police.

She said Cooper assaulted her on Friday and Saturday at her residence, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. She did not require medical attention, according to police. Cooper was being held in Boone County Jail on a $7,000 bond for the harassment, felonious assault and domestic assault charges as of Monday evening. The bond for the rape and sodomy charges had not been set as of Monday afternoon.
