Kewpies’ late rally seals win

Trailing Apollo high school of Owensboro, Kent. 4-0 through five innings, the Hickman Kewpies were six outs away from falling to 1-3 on the season. Eight runs later and one inning later, the Kewpies were back at .500.

Senior outfielder Jon Haas’s two-run double combined with third baseman James Hudelson’s two-run single helped Hickman overcome the deficit. Haas went 2-for-3. Second baseman Thomas Brown went 2-for-3 with two rbi’s in the sixth inning.

Pitcher Casey McIntosh pitched all seven innings, giving up six hits, six strikeouts and one walk, with all four runs earned. The win raised his record to 2-0 for the season.

JEN BRUCK: On Tuesday, Jen Bruck was named the Big 12’s player of the week.

In Missouri’s sweep of then-No. 15 Oklahoma, Bruck went 5-for-6 in the two-game series. Bruck scored four runs, slugged 1.330, had three rbi’s and had an on-base percentage of .875. As a pitcher, Bruck struck out eight Oklahoma batters in 11.2 innings of work.

Bruck is the second Tiger to be named the Big 12’s player of the week. First baseman Amanda Renth was honored on Feb. 14.

MISSOURI GOLF: On Tuesday, the final round of the Stevinson Ranch Invitational was canceled. After the second and final round, MU was tied for sixth place, with Colorado winning the tournament.
