The Missouri baseball team fell to Southeast Missouri State 3-2 Wednesday night in Cape Girardeau.
Missouri (15-9) scored both its runs in the seventh. Gary Arndt hit a single to drive in a runner at second. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded and two outs, Zane Taylor walked to score the go-ahead run. Southeast Missouri tied it in the eighth then the Redhawks (7-14) ended a seven-game losing streak with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth.
The Tigers travel to Lawrence, Kansas this weekend for a three-game Big 12 series. The Tigers lead the conference at 5-1.
HICKMAN BASEBALL: The Kewpies’ bats stayed silent most of Wednesday in a 7-3 loss to Moon Area High School of Moon Township, Pa. Only one Kewpie, designated hitter Dillon Henke, managed two hits Wednesday in the spring break game in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Henke went 2-for-3 with a double. Hickman pitcher Greg Kanuckel took the loss, giving up five runs, three unearned in 4 1/3 innings. Kanuckel had three strikeouts and gave up seven hits and one walk. The loss drops the defending Class 4 MHSHAA champions to 2-3.
COLUMBIA COLLEGE SOFTBALL: The Cougars swept a doubleheader Wednesday against Patten University in Tuscan Ariz. Columbia College won the first game 9-0 in five innings. Pitcher Heather Robey allowed two hits and struck out six. Sophomore Lindsey Williams went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and scored twice. Junior Stephanie Stowe was 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Katie McMahon pitched a no-hitter in the 7-0 second game victory with eight strike outs and one walk. Rachel Brawner went 4-for-7 with two RBIs.
