CAN I VOTE? You must be a registered voter in Boone County to cast a ballot in today’s election.

WHAT’S ON THE BALLOT? In Columbia, there are contested races for City Council seats in the Second and Sixth Wards, plus a five-way race for two seats on the Columbia School Board. The entire county will vote on a proposed one-fifth-cent sales tax to pay for a courthouse expansion and other county building projects. There is also a two-way race for a seat on the Boone County Fire Protection District board of directors and a question of whether to increase fire board membership from three people to five.

WHERE DO I VOTE? You can find your polling place by going to the Boone County clerk’s Web site, www.showmeboone.com/CLERK. Click on “Find your polling place,” and then enter your name.

WHEN CAN I VOTE? Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

WHAT DO I TAKE TO THE POLLS? You’ll need some form of identification. For a complete list of valid forms of identification, go to the Boone County clerk’s Web site, www.showmeboone.com/CLERK. Click on “Q&A” and then “How do I vote?”

WHAT IF I MOVED SINCE THE LAST TIME I VOTED? You’ll have to file a change of address before casting a ballot. You can do this even on election day by calling the clerk’s office at 886-4375 before going to vote.
