Chase Daniel was upset. He really only had one reason.
An 11-for-12 passing day for 120 yards and two touchdowns normally wouldn’t give much cause for the sophomore to be upset. But it was that one pass, an incompletion to wide receiver Greg Bracey, that had Daniel shaking his head.
“Perfection is what we want,” Daniel said. “If we’re perfectionists that helps our whole team.”
Tigers coach Gary Pinkel didn’t name Daniel the starter for the first game. But after a spring where Daniel has been the first-team quarterback every day it’s expected he will be the starter for the opening game on Sept. 2.
After the game, most of the talk about Daniel centered on his attitude after his near-perfect day.
“He’s definitely a competitor,” Pinkel said. “The guy’s won a lot of games. If you look at his background he’s used to doing things right. You want that kind of attitude.”
