A pizza delivery man didn’t have any money to give two robbers who confronted him early Monday morning, so he dropped his pizzas, got in his car and drove away, Columbia police said.
According to a news release, the delivery man was taking two pizzas to an apartment in the 2200 block of Whitegate Drive about 12:30 a.m. As he walked to the door of the apartment, two men approached him and demanded his delivery money, the release said. One of the men was holding what looked like a small-caliber handgun or BB gun with what appeared to be a piece of plastic chipped off, Columbia police Sgt. Dan Beckman said.
When police arrived on the scene, nothing had been taken and the two discarded pizzas were still there, the release said.
No arrests had been made early Monday evening, and police asked anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 875-8477.
