Missouri out of Big 12 tourney

OKLAHOMA CITY - Missouri’s trip through the Big 12 Championship tournament ended Saturday night in Oklahoma City with a 4-3 loss to Kansas in the tournament semifinals.

Kansas moves on to the tournament championship game today against Nebraska. The Huskers earned their berth in the final when they knocked off regular-season champion and top-seeded Texas 6-5 Saturday.

The game will be televised at 1 p.m. by Fox Sports Net.

Kansas scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning when Brock Simpson advanced to third, then scored on two Missouri infield errors.

After trailing 3-0, Missouri had come back to tie the game with two runs in the seventh and another in the top of the eighth.

In the second inning, after Kansas’ Ryne Price hit a home run to give the Jayhawks a 2-0 lead, a fight erupted after Price and Missouri’s Brock Bond collided as Price rounded third base. Both players were ejected from the game.

Don Czyz (6-0) got the win for Kansas. Travis Wendte (2-2) took the loss for Missouri. Tiger firstbaseman Derek Chambers went two for four with a run scored and an RBI for Missouri. Hunter Mense was two for two with an RBI.
