A Springfield man reported missing by the MU Department of Residential Life on Aug. 11 has not yet been located, police said.

Robert Lee Slaughter, 33, was enrolled at MU as a sophomore for the summer session and living in Graham Hall, an MU dormitory, when he disappeared, said Frankie Minor, director of MU Residential Life.

The biochemistry major withdrew from classes on July 12, MU Police Department Capt. Brian Weimer said.

When Residential Life employees noticed that Slaughter had not checked out of his dorm room, they found his belongings were still there, Minor said. Unable to contact Slaughter, they filed a missing persons report with MU Police.

Weimer said Slaughter spoke to his brother on the phone around Aug. 8, but his family and friends have had no contact with him since.

He added that police do not suspect foul play but were continuing to investigate.

Slaughter is described as a white male with green eyes and brown hair. He is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds. Weimer said he may be driving a 1999 BMW with Missouri license plate 768ZLP.

Anyone with information is asked to contact MU Police Detective Shawn Spalding at 882-5928 or CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS.
