Rock Bridge wasted no time on Thursday night demonstrating it is one of the top teams in the state.
The Bruins scored the first four times they had the ball, defeating host DeSmet 39-14 in Creve Coeur. They avenged their final loss from last season when the defending Class 6 state champion Spartans knocked them out in the Class 6 quarterfinals.
Rock Bridge quarterback Logan Gray connected with wide receiver Brandon Gerau on a 38-yard pass for the Bruins’ first score. They led 26-7 at halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, DeSmet narrowed the lead to 26-14. The Bruins responded quickly when running back Scott Concannon put the game away with a 70-yard touchdown run.
The Bruins’ defense also played well, forcing six DeSmet turnovers.
