Missouri volleyball team earns Shamrock Invitational title

The No. 13 Missouri volleyball team (6-1) won its fifth-consecutive match Saturday night, taking down the No. 21 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-1) 28-30, 30-28, 27-30, 30-26, 15-13 and taking the title of the Shamrock Invite.

Several Tigers gave career-best performances including senior Jessica Vander Kooi who had 30 kills, 25 digs and eight blocks against the Irish. Freshman Julianna Klein scored a career-best 19 kills.

HICKMAN SOCCER: The Kewpies won their bracket at the 17th annual Quincy Notre Dame tournament on Saturday in Quincy, Ill, with a record of 2-0-1. They tied the home Quincy team 0-0 in their first game before defeating Niles North of Chicago 4-1. The Kewpies then beat Canton, Mo., 7-1. Juniors Blaise Parker and Evan Camden each had three goals and three assists in the tournament. Camden was named to the all-tournament team along with senior goalie Brent Tengerdine. Hickman’s season record moved to 3-0-1.

HICKMAN AND ROCK BRIDGE TENNIS: Rock Bridge placed third and Hickman placed seventh in the Great Eight tennis tournament Saturday at Rock Bridge. Blue Valley North defeated Belleville West eight games to one for the tournament title.

ROCK BRIDGE SOFTBALL: The Bruins defeated St. Theresa’s Academy 7-2 on Friday. Kelsie Oerly pitched a complete game.
