Columbia police arrested two women Monday in connection with a string of three downtown robberies that occurred in August, according to the Columbia Police Department.

While being interviewed by police, Tiffany Shaw, 18, and Jessica Calton, 19, made statements that implicated their involvement in the Aug. 12, Aug. 19 and Aug. 22 robberies, Sgt. Ken Hammond said in the release.

According to the release, investigators from the Columbia police and MU Police Department interviewed the women after finding similarities in the descriptions of the suspects and receiving CrimeStoppers reports that indicated the possible involvement of Shaw and Calton.

In each of the three robberies, the victim was female.
