Columbia City Council special meeting

Key issues on the agenda:

The council will hold a public meeting on a proposed ordinance that would ban smoking in bars, restaurants and most other public places.

Other meetings this week

MONDAY

The Commission on Cultural Affairs will meet at 4:15 p.m. at the Activity and Recreation Center, 1701 W. Ash St.

The Columbia City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the City Building’s fourth-floor conference room to discuss procedures for the hearing on the proposed smoking ban.

TUESDAY

The Boone County Commission will hold its regular meeting at 9:30 a.m. in its chambers at the Roger B. Wilson Boone County Government Center, 801 E. Walnut St. It will also hold a work session with public works director David Mink at 1:30 p.m. in Room 243 of the County Government Center.

The Special Business District Board of Directors will meet at 4 p.m. at the district’s headquarters, 11 S. Tenth St.

The Affordable Housing Policy Committee will meet at 5 p.m. in the City Building’s mezzanine conference room.

WEDNESDAY

The Regional Economic Development Inc. board of directors will meet at 11:30 a.m. in the County Commission chambers at the County Government Center.

The Substance Abuse Advisory Commission will meet at noon at the Sanford-Kimpton Building, 1005 W. Worley St.

The Airport Advisory Board will meet at 12:30 p.m. at Columbia Regional Airport, 11300 S. Airport Drive.

The Senior Board will meet at 1 p.m. in Room 243 of the County Government Center.

The Mid-Missouri Solid Waste Management District Board of Directors will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the County Government Center.

The Imagine Columbia’s Future Sponsors Council will meet at 1:30 p.m. in the commission chambers at the County Government Center.

THURSDAY

The Railroad Advisory Board will meet at 7:30 a.m. in the Water and Light Conference Room, 15 N. Seventh St.

The Boone County Commission will hold its regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. in its chambers at the County Government Center.

The Disabilities Commission will meet at 3 p.m. at the Walton Building, 300 S. Providence Road.
