The Missouri soccer team lost its fifth straight Big 12 Conference game on Sunday, falling to No. 13 Oklahoma State, 2-0. The loss dropped the Tigers to 8-6 for the season and 0-5 in conference play.

The Tigers fell behind early when the Cowgirls’ Bridget Miller scored six minutes into the game. The Cowgirls added their second goal with 45 seconds left in the first half on a score by Bettina Grossman.

MU MEN’S GOLF: The Tigers shot 71 over par to finish ninth at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate Sunday in Zionsville, Ind. Senior Trent Twaddle led Missouri, finishing 31st.

Senior Shawn Jasper, sophomore Peter Malnati and senior John Kelly all finished tied for 34th and redshirt freshman Bud Reynolds finished tied for 39th.

NASCAR: Brian Vickers stole his first Nextel Cup victory Sunday by turning teammate Jimmie Johnson into race leader Dale Earnhardt Jr., then skirting by the two spinning cars on the last lap at Talladega Superspeedway.

The finish robbed Earnhardt of what seemed to be a victory as he headed into the third turn in pursuit of the checkered flag. But Johnson dipped low to attempt a pass, Vickers went with him and slight contact between the two Hendrick Motorsports drivers sent Johnson spinning directly into Earnhardt.

The dramatic ending capped what had been a curiously calm event on Talladega’s sleek new asphalt. There were two earlier accidents, including an 11-car melee that crippled Jeff Gordon’s championship hopes.

OVERTIME: North Texas and Florida International matched an NCAA record by playing seven overtimes Saturday night. The Mean Green and Panthers had to have some longing for the days of the tie game.

The Panthers and Mean Green matched field goals in the second and fifth OTs before Denis Hopovac’s fifth field goal in nine attempts was good from 24 yards out to give North Texas a 25-22 victory over the winless Panthers.
