PrintA nurse for 35 years, Ford began hospital work in Brookfield when she was 15. In 1971, she received her diploma in nursing from Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis and graduated from MU in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. That same year, she completed the RN to BSN program at MU’s Sinclair School of Nursing.

Personal Philosophy:
- Know your priorities and keep them straight.
- Always be a part of the solution, not the problem.
- Pursue knowledge, no matter what your age. “If there’s a brass ring out there, it’s knowledge and you have to grab it,” Ford said.
What she loves: reading, travel, teaching, education, camping and trips to the Lake of the Ozarks, anything outdoors, cookbooks, her grandchildren, times when “everybody’s feet are under the table”
What peeves her: lack of accountability
(“Honestly, I don’t let too many things get to me, but if there’s anything, it’s when people say they’ll do something and they don’t do it.”)
